I am delighted to consider applications from well qualified and highly motivated PhD students looking to work on climate change ethics and justice, duties of justice or morality to non-human animals, population ethics and justice, or parental duties. If you would like to discuss your research plan with me informally before applying, feel free to get in touch.
MSc in Global Environment, Politics & Society
I am a co-founder and programme co-director of the MSc in Global Environment, Politics & Society at the University of Edinburgh. This innovative, interdisciplinary degree combines environmental politics and environmental sociology with normative philosophy. It includes the option of applying for a work-based project instead of a conventional dissertation.
I am a big fan of research-led teaching and the MSc course, Climate Change, Justice & Responsibility , which I designed and run, is particularly closely aligned to my own work. As of 2017-18, I will also be running an advanced Honours seminar in Climate Justice. I also supervise Master's and undergraduate dissertations in political theory, and contribute to other MSc and undergraduate courses in political theory and sustainable development.
